It Isn’t About Me But Christ and His Cross – Devotional (May 10, 2018)
Too conscious of myself?
Too conscious of my talent, education, beauty, giftings, emotional buildup or even whatever I think life, so far, has denied me so far?So i forgot the real truth… i become a victim of the latter day New Age Movement – Humanistic Gospel of self!I tend to be too boastful… I am always complaining… I am always being offended by either my spouse, my siblings, friends or fellow stewards (believers like me) or my leaders.Instruction from God’s Spirit to You and I this morning (03:35am) is –STOP IT! Be warned! Be cautioned. You and I did not ‘manufacture’ God neither did He set up shop just because of you!God’s program for salvation and deliverance for mankind; and for His Kingdom is supreme and beyond just you. This is not about competing amongst ourselves or self exposure.2 Corinthians 4: 5, 6“For we preach not ourselves, but Christ Jesus the Lord; and ourselves your servants for Jesus’ sake. For God, who commanded the light to shine out of darkness, hath shined in our hearts, to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ”It is not and cannot be about you or me or your pastor, bishop or GO, no!Rather it is and has always been about Jesus the Christ and His Cross.1 Corinthians 1:17“Christ sent me…to preach the gospel: not with wisdom of words, lest the cross of Christ should be made of none effect”
Preachers (Stewards for Christ) sent from Christ are sent to preach the gospel, the good news of Christ’s atoning work on the cross.
The fact that they are sent to preach the gospel reveals that there is a need for declaration and explanation of the cross of Christ. This was not a self-explanatory event. It is only because of the inspired commentary on the crucifixion — including the commentary of Jesus Himself — that we are able to understand the majesty of this tragedy.
To the bystanders at Calvary (including Christ’s disciples) this was the deepest grief imaginable, the death of all their joys, the end of all hope. But through the resurrection, ascension, and explanation of Jesus Christ we come to see that the cross is in fact our highest consolation, the death of all our sorrows, and the consummation of all hope.
The Only Doorway … we must not block the entrance!
Through Jesus’ death sinners are reconciled to God and given eternal life. How could such an astounding display of love and mercy possibly be rendered ineffective? Paul says the cross is made of none effect when we get in the way.We must do all we can to ensure that we do not make ourselves the reason why many miss the way or turn back.
It was therefore Paul’s determination not to let the message of the cross be obscured behind his own personality or his own talents or his own shortcomings. May we likewise resolve to hold up the cross, to point to the cross, with as little of ourselves showing as possible.
He is the Potter, and we are His Clay. May He be given free course to mould us freely in the way that fits His Plan and please Him alone. Our goal must be God, always!Good morning eagles, saints in light and fellow ministers.Prayer:May I not miss the flight time or departure schedule of God for frivolities.
